Casa Spello is an over 500 year old medieval townhouse in Spello, Italy lovingly restored with the help of a local architect. Fully renovated, it has all the modern amenities, while preserving its genuine medieval stonework and ambiance. It has panoramic views of the local countryside.

There are 4 apartments, which range in size from a large studio to 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, and which may be rented separately or combined.
All guests have access to the large, terraced garden, planted with native species, olive trees and a grape arbor. Guests may dine "al fresco" on the large deck with table/chairs, and BBQ grill. Kitchens are fully equipped with modern appliances including dishwashers, and apartments have washing machines.

All apartments have DSL internet access (bring your laptop). An Italian mobile phone is available by prior arrangement on a first-come basis (purchase a tel. card).

Modern Convenience in a Quiet Country Escape

The "Augustus" is a 1 Bedroom, sleeps 2/4. (1 large bedroom on 2nd floor with master bath sleeps 2, living room with fireplace sleeps 2.) It has a large kitchen/dining combination, with a table that seats up to 8 people. The kitchen opens up to a small balcony overlooking the Roman Properzio Towers.

The "Tiberius" is a 3 Bedroom 2 Bath, sleeps 4/6. For larger parties, the Augustus and Tiberius can be opened up to each other. The lower level "great room" with arched stonework, has a couch which can sleep 1 or 2. On the upper level, the master bedroom has a wrought iron bed and large armoire. The second small bedroom has 2 bunk beds. All bedrooms have great views. The master bathroom, with a large shower and rustic sink cabinet, incorporates original stonework. The 2nd full bath does as well. There is also a laundry room on this floor, with washing machine, ironing board, and iron.

The "Mark Anthony" is a 1 Bedroom, sleeps 2/4. This restored apartment was built as a "cantina", a large cellar built into the natural red rock. On the lower level, the living room has a leather couch which can become a double bed, plus a rustic coffiee table, and Persian carpet. the large vaulted kitchen includesa table that can seat up to 14 people, and is fully equipped with large refrigerator, sotve/oven, dishwasher and washing machine. The kitchen has direct access to the garden. On the upper level, a glass enclosed loft serves as the Master Bedroom, with queen size bed, closet and mirror.

The "Cleopatra" is a 1 Bedroom, sleeps 2/4. This unit is a large open space with bedroom, a living room space and small kitchenette complete with most amenities, and small dining room area. The ceiling in the green mosaic tiled bathroom with shower is carved into the rock. The double bed can be converted to 2 single beds. The kitchen has a large refrigerator and a stove top (no oven). Access to the adjacent garden is through a nearby gate. For large parties, Mark Anthony and Cleopatra can be joined.

Centrally Located in Historic Spello, Italy

The medieval town of Spello is built on ancient Roman ruins which include a theatre, and is unspoiled by tourism. Casa Spello is located in Spello village proper, and very centrally located to restaurants, the main piazza, stores and market.

Assisi is nearby, 14km (about 15 mins) away. Siena is about 135 km (1-1/2 hours) away, and Rome just over 2 hours.
Spoleto, with its annual music/arts Festival, is 34km (about 30 minutes) away. Florence is 175km, about 2 hours, away.

The nearest major train station is Foligno, a 10 mins drive away (there is also a local station at Spello, for those who do not wish to rent a car). Rome and Florence airports are just over 2 hours away.
