Le Coin Maison B&B in Normandy

Our old stone house was rebuilt in the same stone following severe damage in 1944. It sits at the end of the village immediately opposite the picturesque ruins of the old chateau. There is adequate parking for guests. The sitting room and kitchen/diner are situated on the ground floor, staircase takes you to the double and twin bedrooms and a further staircase to the family room. To the rear of the house there is a walled courtyard available to guests.

Le Coin Maison - The double room is situated on the first floor and is a large room with an en-suite bathroom. It has a double bed and availability of a cot. Also on this floor is the twin room which contains two single beds and has private shower facilities. Our large family room is on the second floor and has a double bed and two day beds and en-suite shower facilities. Similarly with this room there is the availability of a cot.

Accessibility
Due to access by steps people with mobility problems may find us difficult to access. Unfortunately we have no ground floor facilities.

Outside
To the side of the house is a sunny, part roofed, walled courtyard provided with garden furniture and barbeque. A secure garage is available by prior arrangement.

Coast/Beach
D Day landing beaches on the east coast are between 30 and 40 minutes drive away. The beaches on the west coast with their sandy coves and rocky pools are about 15 to 30 minutes drive away. The more rugged coastline is situated further north. All beaches are unspoilt and quiet.

The nearest golf course is at St Jean de la Riviere. Bookings can be made on your behalf in advance.

Wine tasting evenings can be arranged with prior notice. D Day tours can also be arranged with prior notice.

Travel
A car is necessary to visit the area. The port of Cherbourg is 30 minutes by car, Ouistream (Caen) is 1.5Hrs by car and Le Harve is 2Hrs by car. The nearest airport serving the British Isles is Dinard, approximately 2hrs away.

Distances
St Mere Eglise 15km, Cherbourg 35km, Bayeux 55 minutes drive away. Le Mont St Michel is approximately 1.5hrs drive away.

Further details
The village has all you may require by way of banks and shops. For a more extensive choice the towns of La Haye du Puits, Valognes and Cherbourg are within easy driving distance. The village has one restaurant, but there are many others to choose from serving excellent menus within the vicinity. There is a quirky bar in the village dedicated to Barbey d'Aurevilley which serves an excellent lunch. For the sports person there is the possibility to horseride, sail, canoeing, sandyacht or play tennis or golf in the area. There is a heated local swimming pool but larger facilities particularly for the children can be found at St Lo and Cherbourg. The area is well renowned and each summer private gardens are open for viewing on certain weekends, there are also a host of public gardens in the area. There are numerous kinds of museums around the area where you can learn the history of the parts played by all countries in the D Day Landings. Other museums show how the French lived during the War and other local history, including cider and calvados making. There are chateaus, manor houses and abbeys galore.

Bookings can be made by telephone, letter or email and confirmed by payment of a deposit amounting to one night's accommodation. This can be in Sterling or Euros, the balance will be payed the evening before you leave.
