The Bahamas encompasses 29 islands. The Bahamas is in the Atlantic Ocean to the north is Haiti and Cuba, Turks and Caicos Islands are to the northwest and to the Southeast the United States of America. The population is approximately 330,000.
Nassau is the capital.

The Bahamas has a subtropical climate and is effected by the waters of the Gulf Stream especially in the winter. This can also prove to be dangerous in the summer and autumn months when hurricans are close by. In 1992 the islands in the north were hit by Hurricane Andrew and again in 1999 Hurricane Floyd travelled across large parts of the islands.

The Bahamas is one of the most wealthy countries in the Caribbean. Tourism generates most of it's wealth. Over half of the countries jobs are in someway connected to tourism. This equates to over 60 percent of the income in the Bahamas.
